The Register’s boys athlete of the week:
Name: Cameron Dashiell
School: La Habra
Sport: Basketball
Noteworthy: He was MVP of the Orange Holiday Classic for which La Habra was tournament champion. Dashiell, a 6-foot senior point guard, scored 22 points with six rebounds, six assists and six steals in the championship game, a 67-55 Highlanders win over Boulder City of Nevada. He averaged 17 points over the tournament’s four games. La Habra coach Aaron Riekenberg said Dashiell, who was at Buena Park High his freshman through junior years, is a major contributor at both ends of the court. “He’s just so patient this year and he’s a better distributor of the basketball,” Riekenberg said. “He really gets after it on defense.”
