Which team will you root for this Super Bowl weekend?

We’re not talking about the Patriots vs. the Rams, but the Rotary Club vs. the Girl Scouts.

The annual Paper Football Challenge returns to Tustin Saturday morning – AKA, Super Bowl eve. Teams representing more than 40 local organizations will hold a flick-off to see who can best maneuver a tiny football down a miniature field.

Players score touchdowns by finger-kicking paper – actually, plastic – triangles across tables and over field posts. Each game lasts two minutes and 30 seconds, with six played at a time. Every team plays at least three games.

Other competitions include “best costume” and “most spirit.” Winners in the various categories take home a few hundred dollars, but everyone gets at least $100 just for showing up.

Added bonus: both players and those who come to cheer them on get a chicken lunch.

The fundraiser is hosted each year by the Tustin Community Foundation.
