STANTON — A man in his 60s was struck and killed by a vehicle Tuesday evening, Orange County Sheriff’s officials said.

The man was walking at the intersection of Magnolia and Cerritos avenues when he was hit by a vehicle driven by 18-year-old Amgad Anwar, said Orange County Sheriff’s Lt. Mike Tanabe.

The pedestrian was transported to UCI Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead. Officials have not yet identified the man. No citations or arrests were reported.

Tanabe said police don’t believe alcohol or drugs played a part. Anwar remained at the scene and cooperated with investigating officers, he said. It’s not clear if the pedestrian was walking in a crosswalk.

The investigation is ongoing.
