Andrew Whitworth, the Rams stalwart left tackle and the NFL’s oldest starting offensive lineman, will return to the Rams for another season.

After briefly considering retirement, the 37-year-old leader of the Rams offensive front announced Tuesday that he would he continue his career for at least one more season, playing out the remainder of his contract with the Rams.

“Can’t wait for the opportunity to ride with the boys again!” Whitworth wrote on Twitter.

Since signing with the Rams before the 2017 season, Whitworth emerged as one of the faces of the Rams’ rapid turnaround, anchoring an offensive line that’s become one of the league’s best over the past two seasons. But after falling just short of the Super Bowl earlier this month, Whitworth said he would take some time to consider if he’d return for a 14th season in the NFL.

Whitworth’s decision leaves the Rams with a far more manageable situation up front. Only left guard Rodger Saffold is uncertain to continue in Los Angeles, as he’s likely to test free agency in the weeks to come.

Whitworth, who hasn’t missed a game due to injury since 2013, is set to earn $10.3 million in base salary this season, along with a $500,000 salary bonus next month.
