It’s been more than two months since Ernie Bucher resigned as varsity football head coach at Capistrano Valley.

The school still does not have a replacement.

Capistrano Valley athletic director Chad Addison via email admitted “it’s pretty frustrating” that the vacancy remains.

Bucher’s resignation was announced Dec. 16. He coached the Cougars for six seasons during which he compiled a 52-21 record. They advanced to CIF-Southern Section finals or semifinals in four of Bucher’s final five seasons.

Capistrano Valley finished 9-4 overall and 1-3 in the South Coast League this past season. The Cougars advanced to the CIF-SS Division 3 semifinals in which they lost to Cajon.
