An interesting tiebreaker system for the Lemmon baseball tournament

It’s like what MLB has talked about having in its lowest minor leagues.

Marina and Capistrano Valley Christian were tied 3-3 after seven innings in their Ryan Lemmon Invitational baseball tournament game at The Great Park. Under the tournament’s rules for extra innings, each team started its half of the eighth inning with a runner already on second base.

Marina coach Toby Hess’ description …

When neither team scored in the eighth both teams got runners on second and third to start their halves of the ninth inning. Capistrano Valley Christian got a run in the top of the ninth. Marina scored twice in the bottom of the ninth when Steve Casas’ hit sent in two runs (the second run was scored via obstruction called against a CVC fielder).
