The Mustangs rallied for three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to erase a 2-1 deficit. Trabuco (19-11), the second-place team in the Sea View League, now awaits its first-game assignment in the CIF-SS Division 2 playoffs next week.
Santa Ana dropped its night game at Angel Stadium, 4-1 to Long Beach Poly. The Saints (14-11) did manage six hits and got on the scoreboard with a run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Moore League champion Poly (19-8-1) had 10 hits.
Kyle Ashworth had a pair of triples and scored three runs, but it wasn’t enough as No. 15 Foothill fell to Yucaipa 12-7 in a nonleague game at Foothill. Ketch Gannon drove in two runs for the Crestview League champion Knights (19-11). Citrus Belt champ Yucaipa (24-5), ranked eighth in the state and 19th in the nation by MaxPreps, took control of the game with a six-run third inning.
SOFTBALL
Two Sea View League teams closed out the regular season in wild fashion Friday, with El Toro rallying from a 10-run deficit to beat Capistrano Valley 12-11 in a makeup game at El Toro High. The Chargers trailed 11-1 in the third inning but scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth and three more in the last of the seventh. A walk-off single by Hannah Watson gave the freshman her third RBI of the day. The teams combined for 30 hits, 16 by El Toro. Kaya Mason, Lily Gallardo and Jenna Shimasaki each had three hits for the Chargers. Capo Valley ripped 14 hits against Abby Relph, who nonetheless worked all seven innings for the win.
