Cypress tops Huntington Beach in Boras Classic for Coach John Weber’s 300th win

Cypress baseball coach John Weber got his 300th career win Wednesday when the Centurions beat Huntington Beach 9-3 at Mater Dei High in a consolation game of the Boras Classic.

Cal State Fullerton-signed senior third baseman Cameron Repetti had four hits and left-hander Brett Wozniak pitched a complete game for the Centurions (14-2) who are ranked No. 1 in Orange County and in CIF-Southern Section Division 1.

Cypress plays Mater Dei on Thursday at noon in a consolations semifinal at Mater Dei High.

Weber is in his 14th year as the head coach at Cypress. His other coaching stops include his role as an assistant coach at Santa Ana College, which won two state championships when Weber worked for Dons longtime head coach Don Sneddon.

Also at the Boras Classic:

No. 2 Orange Lutheran 2, Maranatha of Pasadena 0: Junior right-hander Max Rajcic, a USC commit, pitched a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts for the Lancers (11-3) in a consolation second-round game at JSerra.

Orange Lutheran lost to Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks 2-1 in the first round Tuesday. The Lancers play Great Oak of Temecula in a consolation semifinal Thursday at noon at JSerra.

No. 16 Mater Dei 5, Simi Valley 3: Brett Nelson hit the first over-the-fence home run of his baseball life as the Monarchs (9-7) scored all of their runs in the bottom of the seventh inning in the consolation second-round win.

Nelson, a junior outfielder, hit the home run with two outs and two strikes.
