Thursday’s baseball scoreboard

Irvine slowed No. 8 Beckman’s runaway in the Pacific Coast League by handing the Patriots their first league loss, 4-3, in a seesaw game at Irvine High. The Vaqueros (10-5, 5-4) erased a two-run deficit with a three-run fifth inning. Beckman tied it in the top of the sixth, but Irvine won it on Leonard Memon’s walk-off RBI in the seventh. Grant Lockwood was 2-for-3 and stole two bases. Memon got the win with one scoreless inning of relief.

Rancho Alamitos moved within a half-game of first place in the Garden Grove League by blanking Los Amigos 7-0 at home. Andy Pham pitched a seven-inning shutout and struck out seven, while going 2-for-3 with a double and a run-batted-in. Nathan Alarcon doubled and drove in three runs for Vaqueros (9-5, 7-1 league).
