CIF-SOUTHERN SECTION GIRLS VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS
DIVISION 1
MATER DEI (38-2) VS. MARYMOUNT OF LOS ANGELES (32-8)
Where, when: Cerritos College, Saturday, 8 p.m.
Admission (all matches at Cerritos College): $12-$5

Outlook: This is the third Mater Dei-Marymount match this season. Marymount defeated Mater Dei in the championship of the Nike Tournament of Champions in Phoenix in September. Mater Dei defeated Marymount in a nonleague match at Mater Dei last month. Marymount was not at full strength in the second match because senior outside hitter Devon Newberry was playing with the United States 19-and-under national team in Argentina. Mater Dei’s deep team is led by Stanford-bound senior outside hitter Natalie Berty. The Monarchs were CIF-SS Division 1 champions in 2017 and ’15, their two most recent of five CIF-SS girls volleyball titles.
DIVISION 2
LOS ALAMITOS (23-13) VS. TRABUCO HILLS (24-11)
Where, when: Cerritos College, Saturday, 4:30 p.m.
Outlook: Los Alamitos and Trabuco Hills defeated the division’s top two seeded teams en route to the final. Los Alamitos defeated top-seeded Aliso Niguel. Trabuco Hills beat second-seeded Corona del Mar. Los Alamitos has won six CIF-SS girls volleyball championships. Abby Karich, a junior, leads the Griffins with 510 kills. Trabuco Hills is trying for its second section girls volleyball championship. Senior outside hitter Kendall Anselmo has a team-high 306 kills.
DIVISION 3
LAGUNA BEACH (18-12) VS. VILLAGE CHRISTIAN OF SUN VALLEY (33-9)
Where, when: Cerritos College, Saturday, 2 p.m.
Outlook: The division’s top two seeded teams reached this championship match. Top-seeded Village Christian defeated Laguna Beach 3-1 in a nonleague match in September. Laguna Beach has won five CIF-SS girls volleyball titles, most recently in 2007. Piper Naess leads the Breakers with 392 kills.
DIVISION 4
LA PUENTE (11-10) VS. PACIFICA CHRISTIAN (15-8)
Where, when: Cerritos College, Saturday, 11:30 a.m.
Outlook: Both teams are in a CIF-Southern Section girls volleyball championship match for the first time. La Puente and Pacifica Christian were seeded third and fourth, respectively, in the division. This is the third season of varsity volleyball for Pacifica Christian. Senior opposite hitter Maddy Alaluf had a team-high 10 kills in Pacifica Christian’s win over Orange Vista of Perris in the semifinals, and sophomore middle blocker Casie Carlson added nine kills.
