A look at NASA’s InSight mission to Mars and other missions to the red planet

In March, NASA launched the InSight Mars lander from Vandenberg Air Force Base. The spacecraft has reached its destination successfully. Its mission is to place instruments on the Martian surface to investigate whether the core of the planet is liquid or solid like Earth’s, and why Mars’ crust is not divided into tectonic plates that drift like Earth’s. Here’s a look at how landers like InSight land.
