Costa Mesa Councilwoman Katrina Foley was ahead in her bid to be the city’s first directly elected mayor, and long-tenured Councilman Allan Mansoor was in danger of being booted from his seat, according to early election returns Tuesday night.

Foley had more votes than Councilwoman Sandy Genis in the mayor’s race, and in the city’s first-ever district elections, Andrea Marr led Brett Eckels for the District 1 council seat, Manuel Chavez had the most votes in a three-person race in District 4, and Arlis Reynolds held a lead in District 5.

The other District 4 candidates were Michelle Figueredo-Wilson and Steve Chan, and in District 5 Allan Mansoor and Rebecca Trahan were trailing.
