Western’s football team is showing its staying power in CIF-SS Division 11.
The Pioneers defeated host Jurupa Hills 48-19 in the quarterfinals Friday to reach their first semifinals since 2004.
Western (10-2) has won two playoffs games since losing in Week 10 against Ocean View in a Pac 4 League showdown.
The Pioneers play Beaumont, a 20-17 winner against Pasadena, next week in the semifinals.
In Division 4:
Villa park 32, Saugus 15: The visiting and No. 2 seeded Spartans improved to 12-0 and advanced to play Grace Brethren in the semifinals. Grace Brethren defeated Paramount 41-12.
