India pale ales are the best-selling style in our craft beer world, but at Tustin Brewing Company, head brewer Jerrod Larsen also focuses on underappreciated brews such as Märzen for Oktoberfest. We asked Larsen where he finds other underrated types done well.

Larsen loves:

“Emotional Rescue pale ale by Stereo Brewing Co. I think (non-IPA) pale ales are being forgotten, and I think they have an amazing one.”

Stereo lead brewer
Tina Thompson loves:

“Hanamachi by Bottle Logic (a Japanese-style rice lager with a semi-dry finish). I think it’s one of the best beers they make, and I’m glad it’s back on regular production.”

Bottle Logic bartender
Kyle Vidovich loves:

“I really love Ice by Modern Times,” the brewer’s first pilsner, with Saaz hops and a relatively low ABV.
