LOS ANGELES — UCLA wrapped up its bye week schedule with a practice Friday, but carried on without many of the assistant coaches, as they are likely spending their weekends recruiting.
It appeared that defensive coordinator Jerry Azzinaro was the only assistant coach on the field Friday morning as it was mostly graduate assistants working with players. Azzinaro, a former defensive line coach, worked with the defensive linemen and outside linebackers during the open viewing period.
Outside linebackers coach Roy Manning tweeted Thursday that we was in the Bay Area.

The Bruins (0-3) will take Saturday off before beginning game-week prep for next Friday’s game at Colorado on Sunday.
Other practice notes from the media viewing period:
- Quarterback Wilton Speight (back) appeared to participate fully in all drills.
- Linebacker Jaelan Phillips and Mique Juarez were not seen at practice. Phillips has been in and out of practice for the past two weeks since suffering an undisclosed injury against Oklahoma. Kelly said the sophomore’s limited snaps against Fresno State were a result of his limited practice time before the game. Juarez has not been on the field since suffering a undisclosed injury during practice on Sept. 3.
- Linebackers Je’Vari Anderson and Elijah Wade and receiver Christian Pabico (leg) were in yellow, non-contact jerseys. Wade participated in non-contact drills while Anderson only warmed up with the team before joining Pabico on the stationary bike.
- J.J. Molson made 7 of 8 field goal attempts. His lone miss came from 37 yards. He made four attempts from 32 yards and three others from 37.
- Andrew Strauch was 4 of 4 with two made field goals from 32 and two from 37.
- Quentin Wallace was 2 of 4 with one make from each distance.
- During the center-quarterback exchanges period, Boss Tagaloa was paired with Dorian Thompson-Robinson while a manager tossed balls to Speight. Christaphany Murray, who started the first three games at center, was participating in a separate drill with other offensive linemen.
