Ziaire Williams transferring from Notre Dame to Sierra Canyon

Five-star recruit and All-CIF basketball player Ziaire Williams is transferring from Notre Dame Sherman Oaks to Sierra Canyon in Chatsworth for his senior season.

The news was confirmed Thursday evening by Williams’ family. Details on his immediate eligibility are yet to be determined.

Williams, a 6-foot-8 small forward, is the No. 7-ranked prospect in the country for the Class of 2020 on 247sports.com and holds offers from North Carolina, Arizona, Stanford, Oregon, UCLA and USC, among others.

His addition will make the Trailblazers the likely favorite to win the CIF Open Division sectional and state titles again, as he will team up with rising star Amari Bailey and fellow top 2020 class prospect Terren Frank.

The team also added incoming senior Zaire Wade, the son of former NBA player Dwyane Wade, and incoming freshman LeBron James Jr., more popularly known as “Bronny” – the son of Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James.

Sierra Canyon now has two gold medalists on its team. Bailey, a sophomore-to-be, helped the USA under-16 team win the FIBA Americas Championship in Brazil in early June. Williams just returned from Greece after aiding the USA under-19 team to a gold medal in the FIBA World Cup.

Sierra Canyon won the CIF Southern Section and CIF State Open Division titles in 2019 after claiming the Open Division State title in 2018.
