Southern California residents will have a chance to weigh in during the next month on how housing issues in the region can be solved over the next 10 years.
The Southern California Association of Governments, a consortium of leaders from six counties in the region and some 190 cities, will conduct an online survey in August as part of an outreach project that includes several public meetings.
Some of the details of the survey are still being worked out, but the questionnaire is expected to appear on SCAG’s website by early August, spokesman Steve Lambert said.
Respondents will be asked to weigh in on three options for housing issues, and they will consider the issues based on subjects that include existing and future need for housing, regional determination, transportation in specific areas and other factors.
Various economic metrics will be used to analyze the need and devise strategies, including projected household sizes, future incomes and the likely need to replace older housing.
Four public meetings will be scheduled across Southern California in late August and early September with specific sites and dates to be determined, Lambert said. Participants can submit their comments on the subject at the meetings or in writing.
