The city of Irvine will be holding a second public discussion on July 22 at the Irvine High School theater for residents to share their ideas on improving Heritage Community Park.
The meeting will update locals on the initial improvement plan workshop that was held March 2, and city officials will also present a variety of proposals for the park.
The city will use this second workshop to further develop a master plan for the community park that is on Walnut Avenue near the 5 Freeway.
The 44-acre park opened in the 1970s, and many of its amenities were added from 1978 through 1988. The project to restore and to improve the park kicked off in August after it was identified as a priority for rehabilitation given it’s age, popularity and variety of on-site facilities, officials said.
Heritage Community Park currently has a range of recreational services and features, including a community center, the Irvine Fine Arts Center, playgrounds and sports areas. City officials are examining these areas and are looking into renovating the facilities, parking, landscaping and lakes.
The meeting will be held from 6 to 8 p.m.
There will be a public survey posted on July 23 at cityofirvine.org/heritageparkplan for those who cannot attend to the community workshop.
