Man Allegedly Threatening Family Members With A Hammer Shot By Deputies In Lynwood

LYNWOOD (CBSLA) – A man who authorities say was threatening family members with a hammer was shot by Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies Tuesday, authorities said.

It happened just after 12:30 p.m. in the 3800 block of Lilita Street when deputies responded to a family disturbance call, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s officials.

The suspect was inside a home threatening family members with a hammer, Sheriff’s Lt. Brandon Dean said. He was possibly under the influence of drugs or alcohol, Dean added.

When deputies tried to take the suspect into custody, a deputy-involved shooting occurred, said Dean.

The wounded man was taken to a hospital in unknown condition. No deputies were injured.

Traffic was diverted during the investigation.
