Sunny Hills’ girls basketball team apparently didn’t use all its late-game magic last season during a run to the state tournament.

Or maybe the Lancers have simply generated a fresh potion for this winter.

Either way, Sunny Hills won another dramatic game Wednesday to help highlight the Oxford Academy Tournament.

Junior Jaidyn Decastro, a junior varsity call-up for Coach Jae Byun, sank a 3-pointer from the wing with about two seconds left to lift the No. 15 Lancers to a 51-50 victory against No. 13 Santa Margarita in a quarterfinal game at Oxford Academy.

Senior Jessica Barrow paced Sunny Hills (2-0) with 25 points and became the Lancers’ all-time leading scorer.

Kara St. John scored 19 points, including five 3-pointers, to lead Santa Margarita. The Eagles led, 15-4, after the first quarter.

Sunny Hills plays Oxford Academy, which beat Woodbridge 62-41 on Wednesday, in the semifinals Thursday at 6 p.m. at Oxford Academy. Foothill and Orange Lutheran play in the 7:30 p.m. semifinal.
