A 19-year-old man who was critically wounded in a brawl at a Mission Viejo apartment complex this week has died, authorities said.

The victim, identified Friday by authorities as Noah Finnegan of Laguna Niguel, died of his injuries around 10:30 p.m. Thursday night, Nov. 1, said Carrie Braun, spokeswoman for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies were called to an apartment complex in the 27000 block of Camden in Mission Viejo just after 1 a.m. Thursday regarding a fight, authorities said.

Finnegan was transported to Mission Hospital with a significant head injury and was listed in critical condition.

The suspect, 25-year-old Jesse Torres, was arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of attempted murder after the brawl, but the District Attorney’s office charged him with murder on Friday, with a sentencing enhancement that he personally used a knife in the attack, officials said.

Torres remained in Central Jail in Santa Ana on $1 million bail and had not yet entered a plea by Friday afternoon, officials said.

Both men had been at a large party at the apartment complex before a fight broke out, but it wasn’t immediately known what started the dispute.
