Fryer on football: Previews and predictions for Thursday’s Week 4 games

Previews and predictions for Thursday’s high school football games:

Sunny Hills (2-1) vs. Kennedy (2-2)

Where, when: Western High, 7 p.m.

Analysis: Sunny Hills, a run-oriented team on offense last season, is relying more on the pass this year. Lancers quarterback Luke Duxbury has thrown for 749 yards and nine touchdowns. Kennedy has one of the county’s leading rushers, Ray Aldapa. These teams have a common opponent, Aliso Niguel. Sunny Hills lost to Aliso Niguel by one point. Kennedy lost to Aliso Niguel by 17.

Winner: Sunny Hills

Woodbridge (2-2) vs. Santa Ana (2-2)

Where, when: Santa Ana Valley High, 7 p.m.

Analysis: Woodbridge is not in the Orange County top 25 but should be after last week’s 28-14 win over No. 25 Pacifica. The Warriors’ losses are to No. 15 El Modena and No. 18 Fountain Vallley. Santa Ana has lost two in a row by large margins to No. 22 Garden Grove and to No. 19 Aliso Niguel. The best player on the field in this game will be Santa Ana running back/safety Drew Ramirez. If the Warriors tackle Ramirez in the vicinity of the line of scrimmage, thus keeping Ramirez from dragging tacklers for 10- and 12-yard gains, Woodbridge will win.

Winner: Woodbridge
