Edison quarterback Patrick Angelovic out with broken collarbone

Edison senior quarterback and captain Patrick Angelovic (6-1, 185) suffered a broken collarbone in a victory last week against San Juan Hills and will miss an undetermined amount of time, Chargers football coach Jeff Grady confirmed Wednesday night.

“It’s terrible for him, but hopefully he’ll heal quickly and be back with us soon,” Grady said of Angelovic, a first-year starter who waited his turn to take the quarterback reins at Edison. “Not sure how long he’ll be out.”

Edison (2-2) has a bye this week before playing host to San Clemente on Thursday, Sept. 20 at Huntington Beach High. The Chargers then open Sunset League play against Corona del Mar on Sept 27.

Angelovic completed 52 percent of his passes for 579 yards and three touchdowns entering the San Juan Hills game.

He was replaced by sophomore Braeden Boyles (5-8, 142) after the injury. The Chargers also feature Huntington Beach transfer quarterback Jacob Hanlon (6-0, 158), another sophomore who is observing the CIF-SS sit-out period until Sept. 25.
